Principal's Welcome

Principal Michael Stachon

I am very excited to be here at Roosevelt Middle School as the new
Principal.  I am looking forward to bringing my 19 years of professional
public educational experience to continue building RMS as an exemplary
school in the San Francisco Unified School District.

As a Bay Area native and a San Francisco resident for 15 years I adore
being a part of the San Francisco community. I started my career in
downtown San Jose as a 4th/5th grade teacher for seven years and then
teaching 4th grade in Mill Valley for six years.

I began the administration phase of my career as Assistant Principal in
Cupertino before coming to San Francisco. Most recently, I served two
years as the Assistant Principal at Herbert Hoover Middle School in our
district. At Hoover, I was instrumental in the implementation of a new
Special Education Program called SOAR Success, Opportunity,
Achievement, and Resilience, and the roll out of the Response to
Intervention Framework.

My belief in fostering community and supporting family begins at home
where I spend a lot of time with my wife Ashley and our dog Reggie.
In our free time I enjoy eating our way through San Francisco or the Napa
Valley.  To work off those extra calories, I spend free weekends skiing in
Tahoe or golfing with friends.

I love what Roosevelt brings to our students and I am a big believer in
student centered learning.  With a beautifully renovated building,
technology integration in every classroom, a new Assistant Principal,
Mr. Krishna Kassenbaun,  our dedicated faculty and staff, I am certain our                                                                                                                                    students will continue to thrive and be proud to be RMS Trojans.
