ROOSEVELT CHAMPS IN GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

The AAA Middle School Girls Volleyball Final took place March 7 at Kezar Pavilion with Roosevelt downing Lawton 2-0. The Trojans jumped out to a quick lead in the first set en route to a 25-12 win. Lawton woke up in set number two taking a 13-7 lead, however Roosevelt stormed back with 8 straight points then cruised to a 25-19 win and a sweep of the previously undefeated Lions. The Trojans victory earns the Richmond District school their first ever volleyball title!  Congratulations to both girls on their exemplary play and to both teams on very successful seasons!

So close, yet so far away.  From 1910 to 1940, many Angel Island Immigration Station immigrants experienced these feelings upon reaching America, but were detained from entering San Francisco.  On May 7, 2017 (12:00-3:00), the San Francisco Public Library Main Library will celebrate Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month by spotlighting personal immigrant stories from those who went through Angel Island.

Look forward to educational games and craft activities for all ages, a display of Angel Island family histories, books, news articles, and photos. The first 50 children ages 12 and under will receive a goody bag.

Co-sponsors: the Asian American Studies Department at San Francisco State University, TACT (The Association of Chinese Teachers), the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, and the Square and Circle Club.

School Tours

Thank you to all families who have attended a school tour at Roosevelt this year. The Roosevelt Principal led tours for almost 300 families, and was excited to meet so many wonderful students and parents. Unfortunately, tours for the 2017-2018 school year are full, but if you are at a Roosevelt feeder school, please contact your principal about information he, and the Roosevelt staff, can share with you about Roosevelt Middle School.
